Boothferry Family and Local History Group
In 1988, a small group of local residents joined together to form the Boothferry Family and Local History Group.Their initial work was researching about families and documenting family trees, this was soon followed by an interest in local history.Soon they were displaying their research and work at the ‘Hobbies Exhibition’ – at Goole Leisure Centre, a practice which they have carried on to this day.

At their regular meetings, which has changed venues over the years, they progressed to inviting guest speakers to talk on various subjects.
They have built up a large collection of photographs, documents and family tree information, which is available to view at the regular meetings.
A Bi-annual magazine, ‘The Norseman’ is published by the group, to update members on recent research, stories and upcoming events.
They occasionally arrange group outings to various locations in the local area to conduct research or visit places of special interest.
