Cottingham Darby and Joan Hall – This embroidery group enjoys a whole range of textile skills. They have a meeting every 2nd Saturday of the month to hear speakers and arrange workshops and outings, a library is also available.
EYES are an enthusiastic group of people who meet regularly to share their passion for all things creative.
The society started in 1982 when a group of women wanted to continue to meet and share their interest in embroidery after forming a friendship during their City and Guilds embroidery course. They also wanted to introduce others to the many delights of embroidery.
The society has developed its interests since that time, and now encompasses all forms of textile art, both modern and traditional. To keep abreast of new techniques we invite well known and progressive artists to speak to the group each month. Regular workshops and visits give a chance to meet and share learning in different creative techniques.
Regular features at the monthly meetings are:
- A well stocked library from which members can borrow
- A sales table
- An exhibition of members work
Our venue for meetings and events is: Darby and Joan Hall, Finkle Street, Cottingham, HU16 4AZ.
The main monthly meeting is held on the second Saturday of every month except August, from 2.30-4.30pm, with admision from 2pm.
