Walkington Cricket Club has been playing in the village off and on since 1872 and is currently enjoying the most successful period in its long history. In 2012 we put out two league teams for the first time ever, and in that same season the First XI won the league for the first time. This is the most successful period we have ever had, as we’ve finished in the top 2 for five years in a row, and we have a thriving youth section.
Thanks to the terrific fund-raising by the Playing Fields Association we now have a re-laid square, new net practice facilities and brand new changing rooms.
We’re not resting on our laurels, though. We welcome new players of all ages, To join Walkington Cricket Club please contact Ben Gardiner on 01482 871098 or Chris Cook on 01482 874726. Or why not pop along to our club night Thursdays 6-8pm when they start in the spring – you’ll find us practising at the new nets, and you’ll be very welcome.
And, of course, if you would like to come and watch you will also be very welcome. One of our teams is at home every Saturday.
