The Withernsea Ladies’ Choir has been entertaining the people of South Holderness for over 90 years. The first meeting, which was covered by a report in the Hull Daily Mail, took place on the 23rd October 1928 with their first concert following a month later. The choir was originally known as The Withernsea Ladies’ Musical Union, and proved to be a great success – one month after the first concert the choir were obliged to close the membership as there was no room for any more! Membership is again open and the enthusiasm of the choir and audience alike continues to this day with a full house for the Christmas concert of 2015 and again for the 90th anniversary. As well as being invited to perform for HRH Prince Charles when he visited Withernsea in the summer of 2013, we perform for local day centres and residential homes within South Holderness and also encourage young people who are studying music and local musical groups to perform at our concerts. We are available for charitable events and hire for special occasions.
